Scholarship Project

My research explores Chinese history to understand how China is shaping international economic order today, and the economic ideas and strategies underpinning 21st century Chinese initiatives like the ‘One Belt, One Road’ plan and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.   

Biography

I am a researcher working on China, Japan and the international relations and security of the Asia-Pacific region. Currently based at the Australian National University, I completed my Masters and Doctorate at the University of Oxford, where I studied as a Rhodes Scholar. I grew up in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, and did my undergraduate studies at the University of South Australia. I speak Chinese and Japanese, and have lived, worked and studied in China and Japan.
